Richard Edward Barrett

Richard Edward Barrett, age 90, of Harrah, OK, was born on August 9, 1925, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the son of Frank C. & Florence J. (Hamilton) Barrett. He left this life on Sunday, October 4, 2015, in Harrah, OK. Richard married Anna Mae Houghtling on August 12, 1946, in Clovis, New Mexico. He was a church school teacher for 14 years, beginning in 1948 and then became a minister from 1963 to 1990. He pastored 26 churches in 7 districts, all in Oklahoma. Richard loved ministering and helping other people. He served as a chaplain at Jay Hospital. He was a tinker and fix it guy and he enjoyed gardening and feeding the birds. Richard was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae Barrett of Harrah, OK; 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Dennis & Joyce Barrett of Des Moines, IA, Edwin & Charlene Barrett of Orlando, FL; 7 grandchildren, Rita Barrett of De Ridder, LA, Richard Barrett of Des Moines, IA, Bruce Barrett of Des Moines, IA, Brittany Barrett Santos & spouse, Javier Santos, Grimes, IA, Gregory Barrett & spouse, Chrissy Barrett of Orlando, FL, Bryan Barrett of Orlando, FL, Leslie Barrett Woodard & spouse, Eric Woodard of Orlando, FL; 5 great-grandchildren, Thomas Schrier of Okinawa, Japan, Richard L. Schrier, III of Des Moines, IA, Austin Barrett of De Ridder, LA, Connor Barrett of De Ridder, LA, Javier Santos of Grimes, IA and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held 4:00 PM, Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Summit Ridge Seventh Day Adventist Church, Harrah, OK. Interment will follow at Summit Ridge Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
