Richard Duane Salmons, 59, of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada, passed to heaven on Sunday, August 5, 2012, after a three year long courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Richard and Opal Salmons, September 17, 1952, in Fulton, MO. Richard graduated from South Callaway High School in 1970, and went on to receive a Bachelors in Theology from Hannibal LaGrange College, a Masters in Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Masters of Library Science from University of Missouri. Richard had served as Director of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada public library since November 2011. Richard’s work ethic, wisdom, fearlessness for trying new things and taking risks was the inspiration for many in his life. He loved travel and was always planning ahead for his next cruise. Richard is survived by his loving wife Faye Herl of Meeker OK; six children: Makenna, Zachary and Jordan Herl of the home; Tyler Salmons of Eldon, MO; Amy Balassone of Ava, MO; Crystal Luna of St. Peters, MO;. He is also is survived by his mother and father Richard and Opal Salmons of Fulton, MO; one sister Ellen Pendergras of Fulton, MO; two brothers Mike Salmons of Fulton, MO; Scott Salmons of Madison, MO; seventeen grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Memorial services will be held 2:30PM, Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 501 N. Broadway, Shawnee, OK.
