Richard Adrian Kilgore

November 4, 1946 — November 24, 2017

Richard Adrian Kilgore was born on November 4, 1946 to Adrian and Retta (Taylor) Kilgore in Pryor, Oklahoma. He departed this life on November 24, 2017 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years and 20 days. Richard lived most of his life in Mayes County. He attended school in Adair, graduating from Adair High School. After high school he joined the United States Navy and served four years. On February 6, 1971 he married the love of his life Anna McKosato in Pryor. Richard worked for McKissick Products in Tulsa for forty three years until he retired in 2009. More than anything, he loved his family. His love and support for us never wavered. Even when his health was failing, he made every effort to be front and center at all of our family events. He enjoyed the outdoors—hunting, camping, and fishing, and often had some big stories to tell when he returned. He had spent many years looking forward to retirement at his wife’s family home in Prague and was able to enjoy eight years there. He loved taking care of the acreage, and even when his health was going downhill, he made sure to oversee its care. He was a proud Vietnam War Navy veteran and loved our country with an intensity one doesn’t often see these days. The Fourth of July was a special holiday to him and he loved to gather the family for a cookout and huge fireworks display. He was a football fan and loved his Sooners, sometimes so much that the whole block would hear about it. He had an interest in genealogy and had traced his family tree back quite a long way. He loved spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed the Taylor-Elmore reunions held every August in Pryor. He adored his children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and had a very, very special love for his wife, Anna. He is survived by his wife, Anna, of the home; four daughters, LaDonna Brown of Chouteau, Debbie Tahkofper of Broken Arrow, Allyson Perry of Pryor and Miquelyn O’Bar of Broken Arrow; six grandchildren, Lindsay, Samantha, Logan, Josh, Abby and Jacob; one great granddaughter Willow; three brothers, Jimmie Kilgore and wife Betty of Hot Springs, Harold Kilgore and wife Cheryl of Pryor and David Kilgore and wife Barbara of Chouteau; one sister Cathy Petz and husband Larry of Chouteau and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
