Ray Rains

Ray Rains was born on February 28, 1920, in Okemah, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Thursday, December 18, 2003, in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 83. Ray was the son of Thomas Jefferson and Lillie Margaret Clour Rains. He married Mary Ellen Douglass on August 24, 1938, in Morse, OK and she preceded him in death on July 3, 1989. He married Ethel Howard Williams on January 8, 1990, in Stroud, OK. A resident of Lincoln County for over 50 years, Ray was a retired oilfield driller and a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church. His parents; two sons, George Rains and Darrell Rains; and one brother also preceded Ray in death. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Rains, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Rae Ellen and James Heinzig of Prague; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Rains of Cleburn, TX; brothers and sister-in-law, Earnest and Jo Rains of Charlotte, NC and Pedro and Jo Ann Rains of McAlester, OK; sister and brother-in-law, Lenore and Pete Womack of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Jeff Heinzig, Dennis Heinzig, Nathan Rains, Amy Rains, Don Rains, Darren Rains; and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2003, at 10:00 A.M., at the Deer Creek Baptist Church in Prague, with Rev. Mark Sims officiating. Interment will follow at the Kellerby Cemetery in Prague, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
