Ray Howard Vickrey

Ray Howard Vickrey was born in Avery, Oklahoma on July 11, 1924 and departed this life in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Friday March 25, 2011 at the age of 86 years. Ray was the son of William Jennings Bryan and Opal Lea (Virden) Vickrey. Ray was a resident of Stroud, Oklahoma all of his life. He worked for Stroud Schools as a custodian for many years. Ray went to work as a rural mail carrier for the Stroud Postal Services and retired in 1987 after over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Stroud, Oklahoma. He married Mary Katherine Byrd in Stroud, Oklahoma on November 2, 1944. She preceded him in death April 6, 1988. Ray married Helen Pruitt on July 12, 1989 in Stroud, Oklahoma. Helen preceded him death July 12, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents and Infant twin daughters, Marlyn and Carlyn. Survivors include, One Son & Daughter in Law, Larry & Diana Vickrey of Katy, TX Three Daugthers & Sons in Laws, Linda & Morgan Vandergriff of Lavaca, AR, Brenda & Billy Place of Quitman, TX, Antia Cook of Oklahoma City, OK, Two Sisters, Louise Ethridge of Stroud, OK, Billy Lea Kramer of Canon City, CO, Eight Grandchildren, Bryan Vickrey & wife Mary of Cypress, TX, Krista Glover & husband David of Keller, TX, Justin Vickrey of Katy, TX, Amber Scott& husband Tim of Charleston,AR, Samuel Vandergriff & Aimee of Ft. Smith, AR, Logan Place of Hammond, Louisiana, Misti Lawson & husband Todd of Muskogee, OK, Mandi Venard &husband David of Moore, OK, Eleven Great Grandchildren, Other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at the Church of Christ in Stroud, Oklahoma on Monday, March 28, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with L. D. Byrd officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, Oklahoma. The Family will receive friends at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Stroud, Oklahoma from 6 PM to 8 PM on Sunday, March 27, 2011.
