Randy Joe Van Fossen

January 20, 1954 — September 28, 2022

Randy Joe Van Fossen went home to be with the Lord on September 28, 2022 at the age of 68. He was the oldest son born to Alfred and Juanita (Lovett) Van Fossen in East Liverpool, Ohio on January 20, 1954.

Randy grew up in Ohio and graduated from Beaver Local high school in 1973. After high school he went on to serve his country with the United States Army. After the Army, he met and then married Mary Novack on January 7, 1978 in Rogers, Ohio. In 1983, Randy and Mary and their children made their way to Oklahoma. In 1994, they landed in Stroud and have been here since. Randy worked hard, helping to support his family. He worked for many years as a diesel mechanic for a few different companies. The last few years Randy has worked and driven a truck for Feed Products in Stroud. Randy was a lifelong outdoorsman and always a had a good hunting story to tell and most of those stories involved his cousin and close friend, Dan Harris of Elk City. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and really anything that involved working with his hands. Almost everyone that knows Randy knows of his love for making good deals at auctions, recycling scrap metal, and going to his favorite place--the casino! Randy was a giant of a man with a heart of gold that would help a stranger without hesitation. Above all else, Randy loved his family and dedicated his life to providing for them. He always wanted nothing but the best for others. He left a mark on the heart of anyone he met, and he is already deeply missed.

Randy was preceded in death by his father Alfred June Van Fossen; his sister Lynn Lampshire and brother-in-law Scott Novak.

Randy is survived by his wife of 46 years Mary Van Fossen; son Joey (Heather) of Tulsa, son Danny (Sara) of Chandler, son Kevin (Elexa) of Davenport, daughter Dawn (Clarence) of Stroud, daughter Makenzi (Allison) of Stroud and son Ethan who is still at home. Randy and Mary share a total of 11 grandchildren: Ashley, Kristen, Allison, Blake, Tylor, Jayden, Lance, Colton, Konner, Victor, Cash and 5 great-grandchildren. Additional family survivors include his mother Juanita of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, John (Linda) Van Fossen of Burns Flat and sisters Tammy Slachetka of Bellevue, Nebraska and June Rinner of Elk City; also a host of extended family and friends.
