Randy E. Stewart, 43, was joyfully received into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 6, 2005, following a courageous battle with colon cancer. Born September 7, 1961, in Long Beach California to A. E. 'Gene? and Marie Stewart, Randy developed into a precocious toddler, a daring, adventurous child, and a star high school athlete and leader. He earned his bachelor?s degree in Health and Recreation, with a minor in Business, from East Central University, in 1985, followed by a Master?s degree in Liberal Arts from Oklahoma City University summa cum laude in 1997. Randy was a key team member with Ervin Findley, Inc. and a beloved Redlands College instructor. His noted gift for making history, the arts and philosophy relevant and exciting to even the most reluctant undergraduates meant his classes were always popular. His research specialty was New Testament Studies, and he would have earned his Ph d. within the next several years. He was also an exceptionally devoted father, a stellar husband, and a loyal, wise friend. An avid, accomplished cross-country cyclist, Randy loved God and adventure - in that order. Randy is survived by his daughter Jessica and his wife Michelle, his parents, Gene and Marie Stewart; his sisters, Teresa Stewart and Donna Laxton; and his brother, Michael Stewart; the Brothers of the Gamma Xi Chapter of Phi Kappa TAU; and an abundance of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family, and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Randy?s name to Faith in Practice FaithInPractice.org, 7737 Southwest Freeway, Suite 910, Houston, TX 77074, or to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, P.O. Box 161150, Austin, TX 78716-1150.
