Ramon Sanchez

Meeker resident Ramon Sanchez passed away September 21, 2011 at the age of 72 following a short battle with cancer. Ramon was born on June 4, 1939 in Las Nutrias, NM to Jose M. and Corina R. Sanchez. He served in the United States Army from July 8, 1958 to July 7, 1960. After the service, he attended the University of New Mexico for 1 years before moving to Oklahoma. On November 3, 1977, he married Glenda Jefferson in San Antonio, TX where they resided until moving to Meeker in 1988. Ramon was employed at TDK for 17 years in Shawnee, OK until his retirement 2007. Ramon enjoyed fishing, watching his grandchildren participate in school activities, and yard work. Everyone in the community, young or old, referred to him as “Papa.” He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all of those who loved him. His parents, wife, one sister and 2 brothers preceded him in death. Survivors include his 3 daughters, Rhonda Guinn and husband, Mark, Meeker; Candida (Candi) Hubbell and husband, Johnny, Meeker, and Charity Scoles and companion, Ty Spencer, Meeker; five grandchildren, Dillon Guinn and wife Ashley, Anna, TX, Taylor and Trey Doss, Meeker, Brayden Hubbell, Meeker and Meadow Spencer, Meeker; three great-grandchildren, Cooper Guinn, Meeker, Peyton Henderson and Cayson Guinn, Anna, TX; seven siblings, Juanita Saavedra and husband Eliseo, Lila Gonzales and husband Delfino, Maurice Sanchez and wife Mary, Speedy Sanchez, and Jonathan Sanchez and wife Linda, Albuquerque, NM, Tony Sanchez and wife Linda, Austin, TX and Celina Sanchez-Crowell and husband Anthony, Portland, OR; brother and sister-in-laws; nieces; nephews; cousins and friends. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Meeker. Graveside services will follow at Gable Cemetery, Meeker. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 27, 2001 between 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
