Ralph Jr. Jones

April 25, 1942 — March 20, 2024

Ralph Jr. Jones of Stroud, Oklahoma, passed away on March 20, 2024, due to complications from a respiratory condition. Ralph was born April 25, 1942, in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Ralph Leonard Jones and Belva Effie (Adkisson) Jones.

Ralph attended Stroud public schools. He was a long time truck driver working for several companies including Miller Truck Lines. After his driving career he worked as the Chief of Security for the Sac and Fox Nation until retirement. Ralph married Sandra Jones on April 18, 1975 and would have celebrated their 49th anniversary this year. He was a devoted father to Chad and Mark Jones and Steve and Kim Gilbert. Ralph and Sandra resided in Stroud, Oklahoma. Ralph was an outdoorsman who enjoyed coon and deer hunting, fishing and trapping. He loved country music and enjoyed swing dancing by doing the “Jonesy Shovel,” his “patented” dance move. Ralph was an Oklahoma Sooner fan as was evident by the year-round OU light display on the roof of their home. He was an avid gardener and poker player. Ralph also enjoyed a fun game of golf with friends. He would greet everyone with a hug and never met a stranger. His family and grandchildren were the highlights of his life. No visit was ever long enough and Ralph carried on the family tradition of saying goodbye with the question, “What’s your hurry?” Everyone will cherish their fond memories of “Grandpappy”.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rural Wellness Stroud Medical Center and Luminos Hospice for taking excellent care of Ralph in his last few weeks of life.

We will celebrate Ralph’s life with a visitation on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Parks Brothers Chapel in Stroud, Oklahoma. Family will be in attendance at the viewing from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Stroud, Oklahoma on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 10 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Stroud Cemetery following the funeral.

Ralph is survived by his wife Sandra L. Jones, son Michael Chad Jones (Robyn) of Decatur, TX; Mark Randal Jones (Kristy) of Stroud, OK; Steven Douglas Gilbert of Bristow, OK (Erin); and Kimberly Diane Gilbert of Bristow, OK; grandchildren Stephanie (Jones) Sullaway (Patrick) of Ellington, CT; Adrianna (Jones) Lyons (Jack) of Tallahassee, FL; Eric Gilbert (Katlyn) of Tulsa, OK; Scott Gilbert of Dallas, TX; Mary Gilbert of Paris, TX; Becca Keefer of College Station, TX; Molly Keefer of Decatur, TX; great grandchildren Brayden Sullaway, Austin Sullaway, Liam Gilbert and Elizabeth Gilbert, sister Barbara (Jones) Quandel (Ivan); uncle Albert Adkisson and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
