Phillip Scott Ogee, Sr.

Long time Choctaw resident, Phillip S. Ogee, Sr., died at age 95. Phil was born Jan. 18, 1920, in Oklahoma City to Hannah Scott Ogee and John Lafayette Ogee. Phil's parents and four siblings preceded him in death, Chester Ogee, Johnnie Ogee, Emily Naughton and Marjorie Dodd. In 1943, Phil married the love of his life, Doris Jane Henshall, who preceded him in death. He is survived by two sons, Phillip, Jr., and wife Lana Chadwick Ogee of Choctaw, and Larry Ogee and Agnes Perryman of Norman. Phil had 3 grandchildren, Larry, Jr. of Choctaw, Leslee Kersey of Alaska, and Paul Mullenix of Tulsa. He was their hero and they will miss him. He had 3 great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Kaden and Kale Ogee, all of Choctaw. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Phil attended Choctaw schools all of his life and served on the Choctaw School Board of Education. He served as City Treasurer and volunteer fireman in Choctaw. Phil retired from Tinker AFB where he was a logistics manager for the B52. Phil served in the Armed Services from 1941 to 1945. He was stationed in Italy at the same time as his brother. He started out as a pilot and later served in artillery and was a cryptographer. He received 2 American Defense ribbons and 2 bronze stars. We will all miss Phil and his humorous stories that we all heard over and over again. Phil was a golfer, fisherman, hunter and just an all around fun, fair and wonderful friend. Services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at the Choctaw United Methodist Church, Choctaw, OK. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Choctaw, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
