Philip W. Peace, Edmond, Oklahoma, resident was born on July 7, 1921, in Rossville, Oklahoma, and departed this life on July 21, 2007, at his residence in Edmond, at the age of 86 years. Philip was the son of Howard and Maud Keck Peace. He graduated from White Rock High School and then attended A&M College now OSU for 2 years. Philip was drafted and served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946. During his tour, he served under General Patton and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon returning to the states, Philip received his degree in education from Central State College UCO, and began teaching in 1948. He married Minnie Crail on September 10, 1949, in Chandler, Oklahoma. During his teaching career, he taught 13 years in Kendrick, 4 years in Maud and 20 years in Pond Creek. Philip taught Business, Drivers education and coached basketball and baseball. He served as Superintendent and Principal. Philip retired in 1985. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, OEA and the United Methodist Church of Chandler. Philip and Minnie moved to Chandler in 1994, and had recently moved to Edmond. His parents, four brothers and one sister preceded Philip in death. Survivors include, Wife of 58 years, Minnie of the home, Two daughters, Phyllis Tipton of Edmond, OK, Vicki Addison of Edmond, OK, One son & daughter-in-law, Terry & Cindie of Enid, OK, One sister, Ada Brown of Broken Arrow, OK, Eight grandchildren, Thirteen great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, friends and former students. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 29, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Chandler, with Rev. Rick Blackwell, Rev. Sungsu Hwang and Robert Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, in Chandler. Services are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, Oklahoma.
