Mr. Paul Simon, a longtime resident of Prague, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022 in Oklahoma City at the age of 89. Paul was the eldest of 12 children. He was born on February 10, 1933 in Davenport, Oklahoma. He was the son of Celestine "Bud" and Maggie (Stockwell) Simon. Paul grew up in Davenport and attended Davenport Schools. Following school, Paul proudly served his country with the United States Army. Following his army service, Paul worked for many years in the oil field, serving as a well operator for Morgan Well Service. After retiring Paul with the help of his kids and grandkids mowed yards for many in the community as well as the Nursing home and Cemeteries. He loved traveling to Louisiana to visit his brother and getting to play on the boats as well as taking his kids and grandkids camping on the river and fishing during the summer. One of the grandkids favorite memories was watching WWE while drinking chocolate milk and eating popcorn or ice cream. Paul married Nelda Ann Bradshaw on November 10, 1961. The couple raised their kids between Prague and Davenport after the kids graduated they came back to Prague and made their home, Paul was a member of the VFW in Chandler, the American Legion and the Wounded Warrior Project. Paul and Nelda Renewed their Vows in the Catholic church after Nelda joined in 2015. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Paul Edward "PJ" Simon Jr; one daughter, Lisa Barrett; one Son-in-law, Laurens “Shorty” Vanderstraeten; one grandson, Clayton Douglas Robison; one great-granddaughter Aria Lucille Whitson, siblings, Luke Simon, Marvin Simon, Mike Simon, Henry Simon, Mark Simon, and Edna Baldwin. He is survived by loving wife of sixty years, Nelda Ann Simon; three children, Peter "Eugene" Simon, Tami Leann Vanderstraeten and Allen Wayne Simon; 10 grandchildren, Lynn Smith, Kenneth Simon, Lisa Mitchum, Alicia Wilson, Misty Barrett, Stella and husband Nicholas Whitson, Sandy Collins, Lillie Collins, Annette and her husband Dakota Sparks, and Tina Simon; two brothers, Bob and his wife Barbara Simon, Joe and his wife Ruth Simon; three sisters, Mary Ann Mathis, Laura and her husband Perry Beck and Therese and her husband Ray Norman. Paul is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at White Dove Cemetery in Sparks. A wake will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.
