Orville Eldio Roddy

Orville Eldio Roddy was born June 1, 1935 in Washita County, near the town of Mountain View, OK. He departed this life on Friday, October 23, 2020 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 85 years. Orville was the son of Rube Nim and Verna Mae (Teel) Roddy. In 1953, he graduated from Mountain View High School and later earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Central State University. Orville served in the United States Navy as a tradesman Third-class from 1955 to 1956, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. Orville was married to Mary Jane Cornelison on June 14, 1958. They made Stroud their home in 1965. They became members of the Stroud First Baptist Church and Orville became a math teacher at Stroud High School. He loved helping kids and had a passion for coaching discus throwing. He coached several students that went on to set records and win championships. He retired after 22 years and explored a career as a rural mail carrier in Blanchard. In 1993 Orville lost his wife after 35 years of marriage. He then remarried, Glenda Faye Fenimore until she passed as well. Orville later married his current wife, Jane (Soward) Roddy. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Jane Roddy, and wife Glenda Roddy. Survivors are his wife Jane Roddy of Stroud, Oklahoma; two sons Ken Roddy of Edmond, Oklahoma, Craig Roddy and wife Gretchen of The Woodlands, Texas; grandchildren Grant Roddy of Owasso, Oklahoma, Kate Roddy of Chicago, Illinois, Kevin Roddy and wife Brittany of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Connor Roddy of Duncan, Oklahoma; stepchildren and grandchildren by Glenda Fenimore Roddy, stepchildren and grandchildren by Jane Soward Roddy, and other family members.
