Orven William Lee Petricek

Orven William Lee Petricek, age 89, of McLoud, OK was born on April 28, 1924, in McLoud, OK. He was the son of Jacob Thomas & Mattie Mae (Ross) Petricek. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 11, 2014, in McLoud, OK. Orven graduated from McLoud High School in 1942. He married Shirley May Rogers on the 9th of October, 1953 at the First Baptist Church, Harrah, OK. After graduation from high school, he remained at home and worked on the family farm tending to the cotton and blackberry fields with his family. He also worked several summers harvesting wheat near Dalton, Nebraska. Later he took a position at Tinker Air Force Base as a civil service employee and retired from there in 1976. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Harrah and was a Sunday School teacher there for many years. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was faithful in his Christian walk thoughout his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and ranching and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend and will be missed by all that knew him. Orven was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of the home; son & daughter-in-law, Paul & Maria Petricek of McLoud; grandson, Jeremiah Petricek of McLoud, granddaughter, Christian Gomez & husband, Chris of Dale, grandson, Benjamin Petricek of McLoud; 2 brothers & sisters-in-law,Wilford & June Petricek of McLoud, Bob & Mary Ellen Petricek of McLoud and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM, Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the First Baptist Church, Harrah, OK, with Rev. Gary Eubanks and Rev. Brad Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Dale Cemetery, Dale, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
