Opal Oleta Licklider was born on March 28, 1915, in Conway, Arkansas, and departed this life on Saturday, August 23, 2008, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 93. Opal, was the daughter of Finis Lone and Rhoda G. Wilson Montgomery. Her family moved to Prague in a wagon train of five families in 1920. Opal graduated from Centerview School and received her Bachelor''s in Education from East Central State College. She married Everett E. Licklider on November 10, 1939 Shawnee. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1993. She taught 17 years in rural schools Valley View, Whiteside, Turner, Prairie Dale, Canadian, Johnson, Garden Grove, and retired in 1976 from Prague schools where she taught elementary grades for 17 years. She was a member of the Lincoln County Retired Teacher''s Association, Garden Grove Missionary Baptist Church, and Fairview Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandchild. Survivors include sons & daughters-in-law, David and Ida Mae Licklider of Prague, James and Cindy Licklider of Amarillo, TX; daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Jack Holt of Shawnee, Janelle and Jim Hamilton of Prague; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Parks Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, August 25, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 2:00, at Garden Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Prague with Brother Larry Sparks officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Grove Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
