Opal Lee McCallie, 88 passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2007 in Stroud, OK. Opal was born November 29, 1918 to Oscar and Etta Swain in Wetumka, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers. She is survived by 2 sisters; Ruby Smith of Plano, TX; Nadine McCasland of Weatherford, TX. She married Robert Guiedon ?Bob? Lee in 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1961, and a grandson Kendall Lee in 1990. Opal was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Okemah and taught Sunday School for over 20 years. She was instrumental in developing the Christ Ambassadors group and attended CA rallies over the state. Opal enjoyed Southern Gospel Music and her favorite group was the Stamps Quartet. Bob and Opal had fellowship often with them at restaurants after their concerts and felt honored to pay for their meal. Opal is survived by children Robert Dale Lee and wife Joyce of Broken Arrow, Sandra Kay Derrick and husband Don of Stroud, OK, and Rex J. Lee and Deborah of Sand Springs. Grand children: Kevin Lee, Debbie Samuels, Suzy Derrick, Jamie Derrick, Jason Lee, Stacy Davidson, and Danielle Lee, Great Grandchildren Jackson Hollman, Addison and Connor Lee. In 1969 she married a long time friend A. W. ?Roe? McCallie. They lived briefly in Sand Springs where both were janitors at Limestone Elementary. They eventually made Stroud their home. Opal was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Stroud for over 25 years. She cooked many fried pies and helped to knit many blankets for missionaries around the globe. She was always a faithful and active member of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband Roe McCallie in 1983, his son Don in 2000, and grandson Ernie in 2002. Roe McCallie is survived by Grand Children, Sheri Combs, Mike McCallie, Dawn Plucknett, Teri Mays, Mike ?Boo? McCallie. Great Grandchildren Jeremy and Josh Combs, Summer and Tanner McCallie, Jessi and James Plucknett, Sierra, Caleb and Jarred Mays, Mitchell and Caden McCallie. Great Great Grandchildren: Aiden and Raegan Combs.
