Obie Clifford Costner, long-time, Chandler, Oklahoma, resident was born on November 1, 1915, in Sparks, Oklahoma, and departed this life on January 26, 2013, at his home in Chandler at the age of 97 years. Obie was the son of Ira and Zetta (Tolen) Costner. He graduated Sparks High School in 1934. Obie served in the United States Air force during WWII, He married Edith Rounsavell on September 4, 1941, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Obie worked as an Electrician in the Chandler area for 50 plus years. He was a member of the Chandler First Christian Church, Lions Club, past Commander of the American Legion, and life-long fisherman. His parents, daughter, Linda; two sisters, and one brother, preceded Obie in death. Survivors include, his wife of 71 years, Edith of the home, one son, Gary D. Costner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, one sister, Velta Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a sister-in-law, Ruby Firsching of Ada, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, Marjorie Richards, Martha Gammon, Mary Cook, Lisa Costner, David Costner, other relatives and many friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, Oklahoma.
