Norman Eugene Sallee was born on August 10, 1932, in Keltner, Missouri, and departed this life on September 16, 2013, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 81. Norman, the son of Herman and Sallie Sallee, was a longtime resident of Prague, Oklahoma. Norman married Jeanette Sallee on June 15, 1951. Norman was a lifetime member of the Junction City, Kansas PTA and had even served as the President of that organization. He was also a member of the American Legion and was of the Baptist faith. In 1951, Norman took a job as a truck driver working for both the state and county highway departments. However, when duty called, Norman became a soldier, proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, rising to the rank of Sergeant. After the war ended, Norman returned to truck driving, a career that would span for almost 40 years. His parents, two brothers, and son, Michael Gene Sallee, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Sallee of the home; one son, Jeffery Alan Sallee of Charleston, South Carolina; two daughters, Diane Kay Garrison of Newport News, Virginia and Carol Lynn Simpson and her husband, Jimmy Simpson, of Prague, Oklahoma; one sister, Valora Maxine Sallee-Armbrust of McPherson, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September, 19, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Bro. Paul Heard and Bro. Tim Emmons officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
