Norma Lee (Atyia) Mitchell Murray was born on July 20, 1938, in Seminole, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Saturday, January 26, 2013, in Prague Oklahoma, at the age of 74. Norma, the daughter of Shaheen M. and Nellie B. (Hill) Atyia, was a resident of Prague. She graduated from Seminole High School with the class of 1956. She married William Carrol Murray on August 1, 1975. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2007. Norma worked as an administrative assistant for several companies including Morgan Well Service in Seminole, Big Yank in Wewoka and Hattiesburg, MS, Faith Temple in Wewoka, and the Baptist Children's Home in Water Valley, MS. Norma attended Immanuel Fellowship Church in Seminole. She was a member of the Red Czech Divas and the Red Rubies Red Hat clubs. She was the last queen of the Red Rubies before they disbanded. Norma loved to cook, garden, and spend time with family and friends. She was a very competitive person and loved to play games. She was always active in a church wherever she lived. Her most joyous years were spent in Wewoka where her involvement in Faith Temple included teaching Sunday School and marriage counseling. Her parents; sisters, Betty Atyia and Zekeah Pease; and brothers, Johnny Brown and Hammet Atyia also preceded Norma in death. Survivors include, daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Ron Pinkerton of Rockwall, TX, Teresa and George Reich of Shawnee, Melissa Weddle of Prague, Betty and Roger Cunningham of Seminole; step-daughter: Carol Murray of Brookhaven, MS; brothers and sisters-in-law, Haney and Sonia Atyia of New Braunfels, TX, Freid and Pat Atyia of Seminole, Doug and Judy Atyia of Seminole; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirlene and Henry Pratka of Prague, Jo Ann Howell of Prague; 10 grandchildren, Shayna Pinkerton, Christina Pinkerton, Monica Clifford and her husband, David, LeeAnna Bowling and her husband, Brian, Sunny Weddle, Ryne Hoey, Harrison Hoey, Sloan Bullock, Jordan Bullock, McKenna Bullock; 3 great-grandchildren, Christopher and Stephanie Clifford, and Baby Bowling on the way. Memorials may be made to Ambassadors for Christ, P.O. Box 3967, Eagle Pass, TX 78853. The funds will be applied to a new church building in Piedras Negras, Mexico to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Murray family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 2:00 PM, at Immanuel Fellowship Church in Seminole. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.
