Norene "Skeeter" T. Hopcus

Norene T. 'Skeeter' Hopcus, age 91, of Harrah, OK, was born October 12, 1922, in Harrah, OK. She left this life on Thursday, October 31, 2013, in Midwest City, OK. She grew up right across Walker street from the funeral home in the middle of the block where her home stood, there is an empty lot now. Skeeter worked for over 20 years at Whittaker's Grocery Store in Harrah. After it closed she worked until age 75, working for the Oklahoma State Tax Commission. When Skeeter was young, the entire family enjoyed camping and water skiing. She was still enjoying bingo, garage sales, walking and visiting with grandchildren and friends, until very recently. Proceeding her in death were her parents, Coy & Berdie Campbell, husband, Richard, son, John, sister, Loretta and brother, Jack. Left to remember are her son, Jim and daughter-in-law, Jeanie Hopcus; grandchildren, Jennifer (Thomas) Thompson, Jordan, Jason (Virian) Hopcus, Tracey Bernholtz, Hannah Mobley and James Richard (Valerie) Finley; great grandchildren, Adrienne, Madeline and Blaine, Savannah Rose, Keemo, Sarah and Rowan and many nieces and nephews and friends. Services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, November 8, 2013, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
