Nina G. Kinsey, 72, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 20, 2003. She was born in Keota, Oklahoma on July 7, 1931. She was the oldest of ten children born to T. E. and Beulah Davis Garten. She graduated as valedictorian of Keota High School in May of 1949 and Oklahoma A & M OSU for one semester before moving to Oklahoma City and marrying James T. Kinsey on December 25, 1949. She worked in retail sales for Walgreen?s and TG&Y variety stores and in the mid 60?s began working for Sears. She retired from Sears as a Division Manager in 1985. Upon ?retirement? from Sears she began a career as a beauty consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics. She and her husband moved to Meeker shortly thereafter and opened Nina?s Movie Center. They sold the business approximately five years later. She continued to be active in the Meeker Chamber of Commerce, the Oklahoma Eastern Star and was reporter for the building fund of the building fund of the Meeker First Baptist Church. Among the things she loved to do was go garage saleing and have lunch at the Meeker Senior Nutrition Ceneter. They loved to travel as sponsors for various school activities and she was often featured in the Meeker News with an article about those sometimes international adventures. Her family was also important to her and she adored being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers. Survivors include her husband, James T. Kinsey, of the home;two daughters & sons in law, Cynthia & Tom Lincoln, Shawnee, Debbie & John Espen, Lawton; 1 brother & his wife, Gerald & Mari Garten, Santa Clarita, CA; 4 sisters & their husbands, Norma Joel & Ernest Medley, Keota, June & Carl Shook, Meeker, Janice & Eli Sawaya, Yukon, Neta & Woody Adams, Tuttle; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. in the Meeker First Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Jones officiating. Interment was in Sunny Lane Cemetery, in Del City under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague. The family has suggested expressions of sympathy may be made to Meeker First Baptist Church Building Fund.
