Neta Smith of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away on March 15, 2019 in Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 96 years. Neta Smith was born in Okemah, Oklahoma on August 20, 1922. She was the daughter of Clarence Hobert and Eugenia (Clark) Musgrove. She grew up in the Paden area, graduating from Paden High School in 1942. She furthered her education at Draughn's Business School. Following her education, she moved to California and began working in a hospital. Neta married Glenn S. Smith on September 30, 1944, in Crockett, California. In 1949, they returned to Oklahoma, later settling in Edmond. In 1959, she began working for the Oklahoma Christian Home, where she worked until 1965, she then moved on to Central State University. While at Central State University, she worked as the assistant to the Graduate Dean and retired from that position in 1985. She was one of the founding members of Highland Park Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. The family later relocated to Enid, Oklahoma, where they joined the Central Christian Church. Neta enjoyed reading, feeding the birds, walking, traveling and loved spending time with her family. Neta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn and one brother, C.H. Musgrove. She is survived by her daughter, Sheri Porterfield and her husband, Finley of Enid; three sisters-in-law, Doris Smith, Sue Smith and Donna Smith; two grandchildren, Jon Scott and Jeff and wife Tonya Scott; good friends, Norma and Tim Ferguson and special caregiver Pat Welch. Neta is also survived by a host of family and friends. A memorial has been established in her memorial with the Central Church of Christ in Enid, Oklahoma, or the Oklahoma Baptist's Children's Home.
