Nelda (Loafman) Mays

Nelda (Loafman) Mays was born on April 3, 1926, in the community of Centerview, south of Prague, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Friday, April 8, 2011, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 85. Nelda, the daughter of Thomas Jasper and Cora Etna (Morton) Loafman, was a resident of Prague area most of her life. She married Granville Mays on May 28, 1971, in Prague. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2000. Nelda graduated from Prague High School and received a BBA from Central State University. She taught business at Centerview High School, worked for Hinson Insurance Agency at the Prague National Bank for 25 years, was the assistant director at the OBU University Center, and was the site manager for the Prague Sr. Citizen's Nutrition Center. Nelda was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prague. Nelda was very proud of the fact that all seven of her brothers and sisters had college degrees and taught school. Her parents, three brothers, and five sisters also preceded Nelda in death. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Jackie Loafman of Livingston, TX, and other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Rev. Glenn Loafman officiating. Interment will follow at the Prague Cemetery.
