Myrtle Louise Cochran

September 27, 1921 — May 6, 2004

Myrtle Louise Beeson Cochran was born on September 27, 1921, in McLoud, OK, and passed away in Oklahoma City, OK, on May 6, 2004, at the age of 82. Myrtle, the daughter of James Freddie and Sarah Abigail Beach Beeson, was a resident of McLoud, OK. She graduated from McLoud High School in 1938. She retired from civil service at Tinker AFB, Midwest City, OK. She was a member of the BYKOTA Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church of McLoud, the McLoud Order of Eastern Star, the Silver Thimble Quilting Club, the Cheerful Workers Extension Homemaker Club and the McLoud Senior Center. Food was an important part of her life. She loved growing, preserving, preparing and sharing food with family and friends and won numerous awards for her baking. She especially loved baking pies and feeding shut-ins, no one who knew her ever went hungry. Her hospitality knew no bounds nor did her charity. Myrtle cooked for everybody in town. Her specialties included hot rolls, pies, jellies and jams. She was very caring, giving and loving. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oburn Cochran; 2 brothers, Elmer Beeson, James Beeson; 4 sisters, Cecil Beeson, Thelma Petricek, Nettie Large Basinger, and Irene Beeson. Survivors include 4 daughters & sons-in-law, Deborah & Danny Price, McLoud, Denise & Harold Anderson, Harrah, Deanna & Jeff Myers, Tulsa, and Dedria & Shannon Hancock, Harrah; 1 brother, Edgar Short Beeson, McLoud; 1 sister, Maurine Aitken, Del City; 9 grandchildren, Shawn Miller, Dennis Scarberry, Dana Taylor, Dawn Wilkinson, Alex Myers, Kristin Hancock, Mason Hancock, Kyle Anderson and LaDonna Goering; and 11 great-grandchildren, Matthew & Jack Miller, Lacey & Baxter Scarberry, Deigh Ann, Daniel & Dylan Taylor, Seth & Evan Anderson, Rebekah & Danielle Goering. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 8, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of McLoud with Dr. Dan Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Jamison Cemetery, McLoud, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
