Monte Gene Axtman Jr., of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at the age of 63. Monte was born on May 23, 1958 in Everett, Washington. He was the son of Monte Gene and Sherlene Marie (Pulliam) Axtman. Monte grew up in the Everett and Snohomish area of Washington. He was a graduate of Snohomish High School. Monte married the love of his life, Mary Kathleen "Kat" (Cinker) Axtman, on October 6, 1990 in Eatonville, Washington. The two were happily married for 31 years. Together, the couple had three children, Brandon "BJ," Justin and Megan. The family lived in Washington, North Dakota and recently made their home in Prague, Oklahoma. Monte, was a journeyman sheet metal mechanic by trade. He worked in the commercial construction industry for many years. Monte's true passion, was being a cowboy. He was a cowboy through and through. Monte spent many years riding bulls, training horses and he loved roping. He loved everything about being a cowboy. He always loved encouraging, teaching and supporting kids with their dreams from his youth kids when he was training performance horses back in the day, to his kids and now the new generation of ropers. Monte was preceded in death by his father, Monte Gene Axtman Sr. and one sister, Tami Axtman. Those left to cherish Monte's memory are his mother, Sherlene Axtman; his loving wife of 31 years, Kat Axtman; three children, Brandon "BJ" Axtman and his wife Janet, Justin Axtman and Megan Axtman; two grandaughters, Raelynn and Reagan and Kinslee is expected soon; one brother, Mike Axtman; his aunts, Burna Ford, Jan Janzen, Judy Kipperberg, Susan Fletcher and host of family and friends.
