Mitchell D. Deaton

Mitchell D. Deaton, age 85, of Harrah, OK was born on May 2, 1932, in Okemah, OK. He was the son of Slats and Ima Deaton. Mitchell went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 6 at Oklahoma Veterans Center, Norman. Mitchell married Betty Hunter Deaton on March 1, 1957 and was married for 55 years. He was a retired aircraft mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base and also served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Newalla First Baptist Church and was a resident of Harrah for 52 years. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, twin baby boys, one daughter Tammi, granddaughter Brittain and one brother G. L. Deaton. Survivors include: 1 son and daughter-in-law, Michael and T. J. Deaton of Choctaw, 2 daughters, Michele and Cheryl, both of Harrah, 1 brother, Allen Deaton, 4 sisters, Patti Hughes, Glenda Yount, Betty Yancy, Judy Watkins, 5 grandchildren, Jayden Wells, Hunter Deaton, Addy Deaton, Easton Deaton, Joshua Jones and many other relatives and friends. We have lost a Great Man, Father, Papa, Brother, Uncle and Friend. Our Father was a man of many talents, truly the smartest man we knew. He could build and fix anything. He was a perfectionist at heart who enjoyed rebuilding wrecked cars and restoring them like brand new. He was so much more than a Father; he was our provider, protector and friend. His humility, strong work ethic, love and support has instilled many great values in his children, grandchildren, family and friends. Although he was a quiet man, he was mighty in all he set out to do. We love and will miss you every day. Services will be held in the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, July 12 at 2 p.m. with Steve Yount officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah. Arrangements are under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
