Mildred Ross

Mildred Ross, age 94, of McLoud, OK, was born on October 7, 1912 in Cordell, OK. She was the daughter of Roscoe & Margaret Pettigrew Jones. She departed this life on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, in Midwest City, OK. Mildred grew up in the Cordell area, graduating from Cordell High School. She attended college in Weatherford, OK, and later at Tulane University. She worked for the W.P.A. from 1936 to 1949. Mildred enjoyed crocheting animals, collecting bells and was very involved with arts and craft at the senior center in DeRidder, Louisiana. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herschel K. Ross, one brother, William B. Jones and one sister, Merle Jarman. Survivors include 1 daughter, Margaret Jo Hamlin of McLoud, OK; 1 sister, Bernice Kennedy of Sunray, TX; 5 granddaughters, Maurine Hamilton-Watson, Fayetteville, NC, formerly of DeRidder, LA, Cindy Valadez, McLoud, OK, Barbara Daves, El Reno, OK, Carol Tyler, Oklahoma City, OK, Debby McAllister, Greentown, IN; 11 great-grandchildren, Aaron Hamilton, Darin, Juan Martinez, III, Randy Valadez, Kristina Moore, Eric Moore, Nicole Tyler-Blair, Ricky Tyler, Jr., Justin Tyler, Stephanie Barnes, Alicia Welcher; 12 great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, with Chaplain Mike McCauley officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah, OK.
