Melvin Reedy Jr.

Melvin Reedy Jr., Agra, OK, resident was born on March 29, 1931, on a farm in the Parkland, OK area, and departed this life after a long courageous battle with cancer on Friday, July 13, 2012, in Oklahoma City, OK, at the age of 81 years. Jr. was the son of Doc and Gusta (Hale) Reedy. Jr. lived most of his life 1/2 mile from where he was born. He lived a brief period in California, where he graduated from the 8th grade. After WW II the Reedy family moved back to the home place where they raised peanuts and ran a Dairy Farm. Jr. served in the United States Army during the Korean War, after his honorable discharge, Jr. went to work at Tinker Air Force Base, where he meet his wife Billie (Aldridge). They were married on June 26, 1964. His parents preceded Melvin in death. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Billie, of the home, son, Mark of the home, daughter and son-in-law, Twila and Kenny Adams of Oklahoma City, OK, granddaughter, Kodi Adams, grandsons, Klayton and Kolton Adams, brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Wilda Reedy of Agra, OK, Louie and Nancy Reedy of Agra, OK, sister and brother-in-law, Lorene (Reedy) and Hubert Carmichael of Enid, OK, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and two great-great nieces and one great-great nephew, other relatives and many friends. Expression of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Legion, Chandler, OK. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Chandler, OK, with Pastor Susan Marks officiating. Burial will follow at the Parkland Cemetery, Parkland, OK. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler. The Reedy family will greet friends and other family members from 5:00PM until 9:00PM on Monday, July 16, 2012, and the funeral home.
