Melba V. Hargus

Melba Voncille Prince Hargus, age 78, was born on May 14, 1928, in Wirt, OK. She was the daughter of James Washington & Clym Eva Grace Prince. She departed this life on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, in McLoud, OK. Melba graduated from Waurika High School in 1946 and attended Cameron University, Lawton prior to marriage. She married Thomas Newton Hargus on April 25, 1947 in Waurika, OK. Melba was a loving mother, wife and made a home for her family. As the children attended school, she worked at businesses in and around Harrah, including Seikel?s Grocery, Navarre?s Drive In and McCorkle Truck Lines. Melba loved to travel, was an accomplished seamstress, artist and the best cook ever. Melba was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Virginia Lykins. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Hargus, Bethel Acres, OK; 2 sons & 1 daughter-in-law, Patrick & Deanna Hargus, Harrah, OK, Michael Hargus, Oklahoma City, OK; 4 daughters & 3 sons-in-law, Linda & Terry Gay, Midwest City, OK, Nancy & Charles Loomis, Warr Acres, OK, Ann & Greg Baker, Eufaula, OK, Lisa Smith, Oklahoma City, OK; 1 sister, Mona Venable, Mesquite, TX; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the very caring nursing staff at the McLoud Nursing Center. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 9, 2007 at the Harrah United Methodist Church with Rev. Glenda L. Skinner-Noble officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah, OK.
