Mary Vivian Kashwer

Mary Vivian (Downard) Kashwer, a long time resident of Chandler, Oklahoma, was born on January 24, 1931, in Centrahoma, Oklahoma. She departed this life on July 31, 2019, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years. “Mary V.” was the daughter of Jack and Pearl (Herring) Downard. She was raised in Coalgate, Oklahoma. After graduating high school, she attended East Central University where she obtained her degree in Business. She married Jerry Kashwer on May 22, 1955. The family moved to Chandler in 1976 when Jerry became the Superintendent of Chandler Public Schools. Mary V. was a member of the Chandler First United Methodist Church and the Forum Club. Mary V. loved to travel, read, and shop. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker, raising her two sons, and spending time with her grandsons. Never having met a stranger, Mary V. had a smile, hug, and kind word for all. She saw the silver lining in every situation. Mary V. was preceded in death by her parents, and younger sister, Billy Sue Downard. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Kashwer, of Chandler; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Charree Kashwer, of Bakersfield, California; son and daughter-in- law, Josh and Amanda Kashwer, of Chandler, Oklahoma; and her six grandsons, Jared, Cole, Jackson, Grayson, Skyler, and Logan. Mary V. is also survived by many other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Visitation and viewing will be on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 6:00- 8:00 pm at Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 3, 2019, at the Chandler First Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Holder officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.
