Mary E. James, Newalla, OK, age 70, was born on March 25, 1941, in Bonham, Texas. She was the daughter of William McElwee and Evelyn (Jaynes) Miller. She left this life on Saturday, January 21, 2012, in Oklahoma City, OK. Mary was a merchandise manager for J.C. Penny's for 29 years. After retirement she worked at Community Hardware. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, pheasant and quail hunting, fishing, trail riding, spending time at the lake, doing renovations and loved to go to the casino with her daughter. Mary made her family stronger in life. Mary was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband, Hershel James, Newalla, OK; mother, Evelyn Miller; 3 sons, Bill Lisby, Harrah, OK, Jeff Lair, Harrah, OK, Harry Roughton, Jr., Ft. Myers, FL; 6 daughters & sons-in-law, Jennifer Sue Lisby, Cashion, OK, Brenda Stamper, Harrah, OK, Lori & Clif Gooding, Oklahoma City, OK, Karen Bacino, Oklahoma City, OK, Terri & Greg Ward, Edmond, OK, Debbie Kirk, Harrah, OK; daughter-in-law, Tammy James; brother, Charles McElwee, WA; 18 grandchildren, Justin, Scott, Maranda, Tara & her husband, Dan, Lauren, Kristi & her husband Kyle, Kevin, Kyle, Colby, Rachael, Joshua, Dustin, Jake, Levi, Dacia, Derek and Rachel; 12 great-grandchildren, Justice, Jade, Journey, Brooklyn, Allison, Tristian, Tiernan, Makinlee, Ryan, Taylor, Caleb and Jackson and many other relatives and friends. Services will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 26, 2011, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK, with Pastor Larry Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
