Martha Jane Cushing

Lifelong Stroud resident, Martha Jane Cushing passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the age of 92. Martha was born to Jess and Needa (Barnett) Alley on December 9, 1928 in Stroud, OK. Martha graduated Stroud High School and began working at the hospital at the young age of 18, working and getting her LPN and continuing to work as a nurse until not many years ago. Martha loved to sew and crochet in her spare time. She also loved to watch sports on the television. She was a great mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Martha will be dearly missed. Martha is preceded in death her husband Leonard Cushing; her son Joseph “Joey” Cushing; her parents Jess and Needa Alley; her sisters Mary Anderson and Molly Pryor and her brothers Max Alley and Scott Alley. Martha is survived by her son Jess Alley; daughter Jane Place and husband Randy; son John Cushing and wife Patricia; daughter Jennifer Sweatt and husband Bryan; grandchildren Stephanie Gessner and husband Brian; Steven Place and wife Elizabeth; Rachael Cushing; Breanna Edwards and husband Luke; John Cushing II; Jessica and Jason Cushing; great grandchildren Bryson, Sutton, Stella, Madison and Brynlee; sister Marilyn Brown; and also, many other nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Stroud Cemetery. Condolences may be offered online at www.parksbrothers.net.
