Marilyn Kay McEntire

September 8, 1953 — February 28, 2025

Chandler

Longtime Chandler resident Marilyn Kay McEntire passed from this life on Friday, February 28th, 2025.

Marilyn was born on Tuesday, September 8th, 1953 to Amos and Willa Dean (Sexton) Crouch in Chandler Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Chandler High School. She was also a charter member of the Chandler Southern Baptist Church. On December 10th, 1970, she married Bobby McEntire. In that marriage, they were blessed with one child, Daniel McEntire. However, Marilyn did not get the traditional 9 months to prepare to be a mother. She had three days. Through the miracle of God’s work, she got a phone call from a friend at the hospital and was told that there was a woman in labor that was giving up her son for adoption. Three days later, through determination and a lot of help from friends and family, she was a mother. She dedicated herself to being a loving mother during the early years of Daniel’s life. Organizing her life around his needs. She held various jobs over the years but always seemed to find her way back to housekeeping. She was a member of the cleaning staff at the dorms at Oklahoma State University for years. She was a house keeper for various families in several different areas of the state. She took immense pride in cleaning her church with her sister, Terri for many years. During her time working at the church, she helped set up and run vacation bible school, and organized a shop at Christmas for kids to be able to shop for gifts. Once a year, Marilyn and her sister Terri would spend weeks preparing for and working at the Friends of the Library book sale held at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds. Before retirement she worked at the Interpretive Center in Chandler, working in the gift shop and scheduling events for the center. After a well-deserved retirement, she didn’t really retire. She spent her time with her sister Terri working on and painting houses. She also took great pride in helping out family, friends, and the church. When she wasn’t busy doing those things, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, which were the light of her life. She enjoyed going to sporting events, holidays, and any other excuse to spend time with them. When she was with her grandchildren, the word “no” didn’t seem to be in her vocabulary as she took great pride in doing what she would call “spoiling them rotten”. Marilyn had a love stronger than anything and a very strong drive to help others, in which she took great pride. She was very loved by many and will be missed. However, she would want everyone to know that she will always be with you in your hearts and to love strong, help people, and live life to the fullest.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Bobby McEntire; her parents Amos and Willa Dean Crouch; her sister Terri Miller; and her nephew Cody Crouch.

Marilyn is survived by her son Daniel and wife Lindsey, of Sand Springs, sister Virginia Ward and husband Charles of Edmond, brothers Harold Crouch and wife Judy of Chandler, Jim Crouch and wife Patricia of Chandler, Joe Crouch and wife Glenda of Seiling; grandchildren Cashen, Conner, Calloway, and Cael McEntire as well as a host of other family and friends that she always considered family.
