Marilyn Ann Hoover

June 25, 1943 — October 31, 2018

Marilyn Ann (Nondorf) Hoover, a resident of Oklahoma City, formerly of Chandler Oklahoma, passed away on October 31, 2018 at the age of 75. Marilyn was born on June 25, 1943 in Norton, Kansas to the parents of Leo and Marjorie Nondorf. Marilyn’s father’s employment required the family to move often throughout her early years, consequently she attended many schools and made many friends along the journey of her childhood. She graduated from El Reno high school in 1961. Marilyn went on to attend Central State University, where she met Bill Hoover, the man who she would marry, have four children with and travel through life with together until her passing. Upon Bill’s graduation she paused her own college education temporarily to marry Bill; a family soon began. Marilyn went on to earn her college degree from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma after both of their children at the time had entered public school. After graduation, the family moved to Chandler Oklahoma where Marilyn began what would become a very successful twenty-six year career as an educator, teaching English and journalism to the students of Chandler High School between the years of 1976 until 1998. During their thirty years of residency in Chandler, Marilyn was a very active member of the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Parish in Chandler, teaching religions education for a number of years, volunteering wherever she could and participating in the Alter Society. After retirement Marilyn and Bill enjoyed traveling whenever they could get away and she went on to use her experiences as both a Mother and educator to be the best Grandmother in the world to ten grandchildren whom she loved with all of her heart. Marilyn will be sadly missed by her husband Bill Hoover, mother Marjorie Nondorf, children Amanda Hoover Cromwell, Greg Hoover and Mike Hoover, grandchildren Christopher Hoover, Sarah Hoover Howard, Nathanial Hoover, Rachael Hoover, Beth Hoover, Mike Hoover (Jr), Autumn Hoover, Bonnie Hoover, Jimmy Cromwell, Ella Cromwell, great grand-children Marjorie, Margeaux and Ariiah Howard, Haley Hoover, brothers Jim and Mike Nondorf, Sister-in-Law Kathryn Hoover Odell and all of her nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her loving father Leo Nondorf, infant son Craig Lee Hoover as well as Mother-in-law Madge Bland Hoover and Father-in-law Ray Hoover. A celebration of life will be held at 7:00PM on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Chandler. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church followed by burial at the Stroud Cemetery in Stroud Oklahoma.
