Marie Lorene Stricklin

Marie Lorene Stricklin was born on November 9, 1916, in Okfuskee, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, near her home in Paden, Oklahoma, at the age of 95. Marie, the daughter of Benjamin Monroe 'Ben' and Letha Grace (Vanzant) Harwel, was a life-long resident of Okfuskee County. She was the last graduate of Okfuskee High School. She married John C. Stricklin on August 27, 1938 in Okemah, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2001. Marie had a daily walk with the Lord, studying the Bible every night. Her afternoons were spent embroidering beautiful tea towels, pillowcases, and table scarves which the children and grandchildren were thrilled to receive. Her parents and grandson, Kurtis Stricklin, also preceded Marie in death. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Dorothy Stricklin of Webbers Falls, Jerry and Lee Stricklin of Paden, Wayne and Kristi Stricklin of Paden; daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Billy Earl Coleman of Prague, Lissa Kay and Johnnie Wallis of Paden; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM, at the First Baptist Church in Paden with Bro. Terry Pittman officiating. Interment will follow at the Prague Cemetery in Prague.
