She entered this world on February 19, 1933 in Oklahoma City, OK, born to Earl and Ramona (Height) Davidson, the oldest of seven children. The family moved to Okemah when Ellen was still an infant. Nurse Ellen, as she was affectionately called, graduated from Okemah High School in 1951 and immediately entered nursing training at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. She became a registered nurse in 1954 and went to work in the Pediatric Department at St. Anthony until 1971 when she became the first school nurse for Harrah Public Schools. Ellen and Orlando G. (Pete) Moore were married on February 11, 1955, and moved to Harrah, OK in 1972. They built a new home on Wilshire and immediately transferred their membership from Putnam City Methodist Church to United Methodist Church in Harrah. Ellen was a member of the Oklahoma School Nurses Association, OEA, NEA, St. Anthony Alumni Association and was on the Board of Directors of Harrah Senior Citizens Center. Her dedication and compassion and deep concern for others endeared her to generations of students in Harrah Schools and that love carried over into their adult lives as well. In addition to her extensive medical knowledge, Nurse Ellen always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. In 1984, the Kiwanis Club of Harrah presented Ellen with the Distinguished Citizen Award in recognition of outstanding service to the community. Upon her retirement in 1992, she was awarded the 'People Who Make a Difference' award by the Harrah Herald newspaper. After retirement, she and Pete traveled extensively until his death in 2001.
