Maple Irene Curtis

Maple Irene Curtis was born on February 18, 1920, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Thursday, April 21, 2011, in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 91. Maple, the daughter of Carter James and Letha (Melott) Tacker, was a resident of Meeker. She graduated from Shawnee High School with the class of 1938. She married Elza Reaford Pringle in 1938 in Okay, Oklahoma. Five children, Sharon Sue, Sandra, Peggy, Cheryl and Perry, were born to this union. She married James Howard Curtis on December 4, 1970 in Tecumseh. He preceded Maple in death on May 3, 2009. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God in Meeker where she was active in women's ministries. Her parents; two daughters, an infant, Sharon Sue, and Peggy Yvonne Copeland; one brother, and three sisters also preceded Maple in death. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Perry and Linda Pringle of Meeker, Jerry and Mary Curtis of Choctaw; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Gerry Crane of Magnolia, TX, Cheryl and Ted Melott of Meeker, Karen and Don McClung of Parachute, CO; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Suzanne Tacker of Missouri; sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and Lewis Tew of Edmond, Althea and Porter Stapp of Shawnee, Nancy Starr of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Jeff McClung, Jay McClung, James Curtis, Melanie Black, Jason Aguire, Rhonda Motley, Randall Motley, Keith Webb, Pamela Chamberlain, Debbie Motley, Robin Babb, Monte Pringle, LaTisha Webb, Aron Pringle; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. Viewing and visitation will be at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker beginning at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 22, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 10:00 AM, at the Assembly of God Church in Meeker with Rev. Charles Pearcy officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
