Mabel Holman Ray, 94, of Paden, went to meet her Lord on January 15, 2008, at Yukon, Oklahoma. Mabel was born to Will and Mary Covey Holman on November 8, 1913, at their home in Paden. She was the middle child of nine children. She married Earl Ray on October 29, 1932. They made their home in Paden. They farmed in and around Paden and Okemah until 1950 when they moved to Del City. Mabel and Earl were both employed at Tinker Air Force Base. In 1972, Earl retired and they moved back home to Paden. Mabel continued to car pool to Tinker until her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Paden where she attended regularly until she moved to Yukon to live with her daughter. At the age of 93, Mabel took her first helicopter ride and her first Harley Davidson motorcycle ride at the Paden Fire Department Picnic. She worked hard all of her life and enjoyed it to the fullest. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Mary; her husband, Earl; brothers, Covey, Carl, Ralph, Morgan, Harley, and Joe; and one sister, Avis. Mabel is survived by children and their spouses, Iva Brown-Volker of Yukon, Joe and Janetta Ray of Minco, Kay and Paul Magruder of McLoud; grandchildren and their spouses, Don Brown of Oklahoma City, Jan Brown of Fairfax, CA, Kendall Ray of El Reno, Randall and Cindy Ray of Minco, Jim and Brenda Magruder of Ardmore, Jerry and Amy Magruder of McLoud, John and Rhonda Magruder of Mustang, Mike and Jane Wilkey of Neosho, MO; 12 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law: Ray and Mary Alice Holman of Okemah; two brothers-in-law; 11 sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2008, at 10:00 AM, at the First Baptist Church in Paden with Rev. Wayne Ray officiating. Interment will follow at the Paden Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
