Luther Junior Edwards

Luther Junior Edwards was born in Blackwell Oklahoma, May 29, 1926, and passed away at home on August 18, 2013, where he went to be with the Lord. He was working in the cornfield as a teenager when he accepted the Lord as his Savior. He was raised on a farm in Geary Oklahoma, and later moved to Oklahoma City and started working for Pittsburg Plate Glass Company, from there he went to work for Black, Sivalls and Bryson Steel Company as a material handler, held several different jobs and finally got in to welding, where he advanced to certified welder. While living in Nicoma Park attending church there he was active with youth and younger people. Then moved on to Shawnee Oklahoma where he was still active and always working in all projects. Luther was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Knight and Connie Thompson; two granddaughters, Patricia and Stephanie Thompson; his father, Luther (Luke) Edwards; his mother Anna Alice Edwards Justice; his step-father, Benjamin Justice; two brothers, Clarence Edwards and Clifton Edwards; and a sister, Juanita Hash. Survivors include his wife Ruth of the home; children include, Dora and Jerry Burchett of Chandler, Jackie and Michael Sisson of Prague, Lola and Robert Jameson of Denton, Texas, Viola Wishon of Prague, Ron Knight of Muskogee, Benjamin and Virginia Edwards of Tecumseh; two sisters, Maxine Palmer and Norma Dodson, both of Oklahoma City. There are 17 grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins to numerous to mention. His hobbies were fishing, woodworking, welding and helping out around the farm. The fishing was done at Lake Eufaula where he lived for six years and hosted lots of fish fries for family, neighbors and friends. There will be a visitation Tuesday night, August 20, from 6:00 – 8:00 at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM, at the Aydelotte Baptist Church with Pastors Nathan Howard and Robert Jacobson officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 PM at Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City.
