Lora Marie Short was born on April 4, 1909, in Konawa, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 98. Lora was the daughter of Henry Mathis and Jane Sarah Kathryn Steele Pickard. She married Clarence Short on February 20, 1929, in El Reno, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1995. They moved to Nicoma Park in 1929 where she resided until 1999 when she sold her home and ?retired? from a long career as a beautician. She then moved to Highland Ridge Retirement Center where she lived until last year. The last nine months, she made her home in the Wellington Park Assisted Living Center in Del City. Lora was a member of the Eastern Star, Faith Community Christian Church, and the Home Demonstration Club. She was honored by hospice for sewing over 300 ?neck pillows? for hospice patients. Her parents; two brothers, Orlan and Doral; and three sisters, Minnie, Billie, and Myrtle, also preceded Lora in death. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Merlin and Cheryl Short, Charles and Kathryn Short; brothers, Lawrence, James, and Kenneth; sisters, Mildred, Jerry, Delma, and Mary; grandchildren, Charlotte and husband Gerald, Nancy, Lisa and husband Ernie, Tim and wife Heather, Holly and husband Ivory; 9 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
