Linda Gail Langston

October 16, 1946 — September 16, 2023

Linda G Langston, 76, passed away on Saturday, September 16th, 2023, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Linda was born on Wednesday, October 16, 1946, in Annapolis, Maryland to Randolph Milton and Kathryn Florence (Gentzler) Gutshall. Growing up, Linda followed her family and their father's naval career all over the United States. She graduated from Ardmore High School in 1963. Following high school, Linda attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, where she met Phillip Langston. On June 3, 1967, Linda married Phillip Langston. Linda and Phillip spent many years living on the Gulf Coast, where she was very active in the Krewe of Nereids, a Mardi Gras Krewe. She also loved spending time on their sailboat. In 1988, they made their home in Shawnee, relocating from Mississippi. They celebrated 56 years of marriage just prior to his death in July of 2023. Linda was affectionately known by her family and friends as "Cookie."

Linda loved animals; she dedicated her life to their care. She spent more than 20 years at the Shawnee Animal Hospital, where she was beloved by all the patients and their owners.

Linda's favorite place was her farm. Upon moving back to Oklahoma, Linda and Phillip purchased their family farm. The two continued to work full time while also raising and caring for their own livestock and horses. Linda loved to watch the cows and horses and the farm was truly her happy place. She also loved to travel, especially with Mike and Gay Steward, when they would make their annual trips to Breckenridge, Colorado to Ski or to Ruidoso, New Mexico for the horse races.

Linda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Phillip W. Langston and her parents, Randolph and Kathryn Gutshall.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Ryan Langston; her daughter, Harper Arms and her husband, Bryan; her granddaughter, Sydnie Linda Arms; brother, W. Terry Gutshall and his wife, Frieda; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date.
