Leta Faye Pumford was born on February 2, 1925 in Lincoln County near Parkland, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Monday, September 8, 2003 in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 following a noble nine-month battle with cancer and other illnesses. Leta was the daughter of Lewis William and Gladyce Beulah Thomas Brock, the second of nine children. Leta completed her education in Ponca City where she was a member of Sunset Baptist Church. She was a homemaker until her sons were in junior high school at which time she applied her considerable energy, love of people, and always pleasant personality for more than 45 years as a vibrant customer service representative for numerous businesses in Ponca City, Blackwell, Edmond, and Prague. She worked well past normal retirement age because of the energy she derived from contributing to the well being and needs of others. Leta?s health prohibited such endeavors in late 2002. Leta?s parents; two husbands, Norman Bud Weidman and Bruce Jay Pumford; and siblings, Wilma Jean and Lewis Leroy, preceded her in death. Survivors include: Sons and daughters-in-law: Harold and JoAn Pumford, Prague, OK Bobby and Bobbie Pumford, Ponca City, OK Brothers: Leon Brock, Cloud Croft, NM Carl Brock, Ponca City, OK Sisters: Norma Perkins, Big Springs, TX Ardell Berry, Yukon, OK Danna Walker, Ponca City, OK Margaret Sloan, Ponca City, OK Grandchildren:Wade and Stephanie Jones, Stroud, OK Todd and Erin Jones, Guthrie, OK Robert and Kristin Pumford, Lebanon, MO Patricia and Sherman Poole, Edmond, OK Sherri and Craig Bodine, Prague, OK Brigitte and John Coffman, Tulsa, OK Brandi Pumford, Arvada, CO Robyn Pumford, Broken Arrow, OK Great Grandchildren:Gabriel, Megan, Delaney, and Cal Jones, Stroud, OK Layci and Jacob Jones, Guthrie, OK Chase, Jack, and Faith Pumford, Lebanon, MO Alisha and William Poole, Edmond, OK Kyle and Brody Bodine, Prague, OK Many other relatives and numerous friends throughout the country who were each deeply touched by her love, generous, spirit, enthusiasm, and affection, also survive her. Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 11, at Longwood Cemetery, east of Ponca City. Services are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home, Ponca City, with assistance from Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.
