Lester McCoy was born on July 10, 1920, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, in Talihina, Oklahoma, at the age of 91. Lester, the son of Jim and Lizzie (Stutts) McCoy, was a long-time resident of Paden. He grew up southwest of Oklahoma City. Lester served his country in the United States Army during World War II with the 96th Infantry in the Philippines. He was married to Alta Seavers who preceded him in death in 1976. Lester and Alta made their home on a farm in Paden where they farmed and raised cattle. Lester was a handyman who could fix anything and was of the Methodist faith. His parents; four brothers, Ellis, Albert, Elgin, and Emmil; and two sisters, Eugena Hamblin and Virginia McCoy, also preceded Lester in death. Survivors include nephews, Leon McCoy of Paden and Donnie McCoy of Mustang; niece, Novaline Hamilton of Houston, TX; son-in-law, Bill Evans of Newalla. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 10:00 AM, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Rev. Scott Keneda officiating. Interment will follow at the Paden Cemetery.
