Leroy Walter Ladd

Roy Ladd of Prague died peacefully at 1:11 PM on Thursday, December 20, 2007, at Unity Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Roy was born on December 16, 1919, in Wattsburg, Pennsylvania, to Charles Maynard and Mabel Wetmore Ladd. He graduated from Corry, PA High School in 1937. He and Ellen Grace Thompson were married on July 18, 1942, in Youngsville, PA. Roy worked at Aero Supply Defense Plant during World War II as well as maintaining a family farm. After World War II, Roy owned and operated a dairy farm for 27 years near Beaverdam, PA. He also worked for Railway Express, and for a time was a truck driver for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Roy was then employed as a driver for the Corry Fire Department until his retirement. He served a term as Township Supervisor for Wayne Township and was on the Corry Area School Board for a number of years. Roy and Ellen retired to Oklahoma in 1974. Since 1982, they made their home north of Arlington. Never one to be idle, Roy spent another 21 enjoyable years in the employ of Dr. Stanley Kolar of Prague farming and caring for livestock, the things he knew and loved best. Roy loved to go to the weekly cattle sales at Little Hope, PA, to visit with friends. He loved draft horses and was a member of the Oklahoma Draft Horse Association for many years. Roy was known by his friends as a ?collector? of many things ? especially farm antiques. Roy was an active member of Arlington United Methodist Church and was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Elgin, PA. Roy?s parents and one sister, Virginia Belle Kafferlin, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ellen of the home; daughters, Susan Blakeslee and her husband, Douglas of Mayville, NY, Patricia Ley of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Ann Ladd and companion, Peggy, of Malden, MA; sons, Richard Ladd and wife Karen of Mason, OK, David Ladd of Oklahoma City, OK, Gregory Ladd of Wellston, OK; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Hubert Watrous of Corry, PA, Eleanor and Milton 'Pete? McIntyre of Corry, PA; brothers and sisters-in-law,Howard and Louise Ladd of Elgin, PA, Lyle and Ann Ladd of Corry, PA; grandchildren, Natalie Burns, her husband Robert, and their children Bethany, Baylee, and Bryanna, Christopher Blakeslee and companion Darlene, and their children Destiny and Autumn, Lance Blakeslee and wife Kathy, and their children Josh and Elle, Michael Ley and wife Linda, Marcie Ley and companion Matthew, Jesse Ladd and his son Christopher, Megan Cooper and husband Richard and their son Gavin, Ashley Ladd, Chris Ladd, and Micah Morelock.
