Leon Schluge was born in Ringo, Kansas on June 22, 1921 and departed this life in Stroud, Oklahoma on Monday, August 02, 2010 at the age of 89 years. Leon was the son of John and Mary (Potocnik) Schluge. Leon was a resident of Stroud, Oklahoma for the past 10 years moving from Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Virden Illinois Schools where he went to the eight grades and later in life went back and got his GED and completed High School. Leon married Emily Helen Zanck in Chicago, IL on July 17, 1948. He was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church in Stroud, OK. He was in the United State Navy where he served in WW II. His ship, USS Moctobi was the first ship into Tokyo harbor before the signing of the surrender papers. He worked as a machinist operator for Western Electric for 36 years, 88 years member of the Slovene National Benefit Society. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, John and Fredrick, 4 sisters, Mary Brady, Annie Raven, Gail Schluge and Jenny Narmont. Survivors include, Wife, Emily of the home, Three Sons & Daughter in Laws:Phil & Kathy Schluge of Indianapolis, IL, Leon & Adele Schluge of Indianapolis, IL, Daniel & Susan Schluge of Indianapolis, IL, Two Daughters & Son in Laws, Priscilla Sluga & Michael Meiselmen of Springfield, IL, Monica & Gary Babinec of Stroud, OK, Sixteen Grandchildren, Nine Great Grandchildren, Other relatives and friends. Rosary service will held at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Stroud on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 2:30 P.M. Mass will be held at 3:00 P.M. at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Stroud August 5, 2010 under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, OK Family will receive guests at Parks Brothers Funeral Home from 11:00 to 2:00 P.
