Leo Michael Moore was born on February 11, 1919, in Prague, Oklahoma, to James Oliver and Catherine Carson Moore, and departed this life on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 in Prague, Oklahoma at the age of 84. Leo married his high school sweetheart, Frances Lena Jezek, on December 16, 1945 in Prague. Together, they operated Moore?s Supermarket in Prague for almost 40 years. Frances preceded him in death on Valentine?s Day, 1997. Leo served honorably in the United States Army during World War II, garnering numerous awards for gallantry in combat while serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church; past president of numerous organizations including Prague Lion?s Club, Prague Chamber of Commerce, the Kolache Festival, and the ?40 ET 8? in Shawnee; a member of the VFW and American Legion; and a 25-year member of the Selective Service. Leo will be remembered for many things and acts of kindness, but will especially be remembered for his smoked sausage ?klobase.? His parents; an infant son; one brother, Vincent L. Moore; and one sister, Nellie Moore, also preceded Leo in death. Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Mike & Sandra Moore of Prague; daughters and son-in-law, Karaleen Hardison of Oklahoma City, Janice & Mike VanBrunt of Yukon; brother, James Glen Moore of San Diego, CA; 11 Grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren to whom he will always be their special ?Poppy.? A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday, December 5, 2003, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 6, 2003, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Prague, Oklahoma, with Rev. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, OSB, officiating. Interment will follow at the Catholic Cemetery in Prague, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague. Memorials may be made to The National Shrine of the Infant Jesus of Prague, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Prague, Oklahoma; or the Edward Walla American Legion Post #11, Prague, Oklahoma.
