Lena Irene Whitford

Lena Irene Couch Whitford was born on July 8, 1912, in Choctaw, OK, and departed this life on Thursday, April 14, 2005, in Harrah, OK. Lena, the daughter of Ira L. and Minnie A. Allen Couch, was a resident of Harrah, OK. She graduated from State Center in Jones, OK, and then attended Southwestern Adventist College where she majored in homemaking and of which she was an alumni. On December 24, 1934, she married Charles H. Whitford in Harrah, OK. Lena took care of her children, loved to garden and was very involved in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Lena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Bruce Whitford; and one daughter, Marilyn Cox. Survivors include 1 son & daughter-in-law, Charles D. & Melba Whitford, Jones, OK; 4 daughters & sons-in-laws, Martha & Jerry Sterner, Zephyr Hills, FL, Margaret & David Lapham, Harrah, OK, Maxine & Eddie DeCocq, Edmond, OK, Charlene & Edwin Barrett, Apopka, FL; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 4350 Will Rogers Parkway, Suite 400, Oklahoma City, OK 73108. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 18, 2005, at Summit Ridge Seventh Day Adventist Church, Harrah, OK, with Elder Ken Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah, OK.
