Lela Pearl Henley was born October 5, 1927 in Stroud, Oklahoma and went home to be with Jesus on November 26, 2014 in Stroud, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years. Lela was the daughter of Charles Wesley and Virgie Nora (Combs) Melton. Having been born in the Stroud area she lived here all of her life. She married Clifford Valdore Henley on January 1, 1946 in Stroud. She worked for the Kendrick Public Schools and the Stroud Public Schools as a Cafeteria staff member until her retirement. Lela was a devout member of the First Baptist Church of Stroud and was the first person to be baptized in their new building. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Charles and Virgie Melton, husband Clifford Valdore Henley, and six brothers. Lela is survived by, 2 sons and daughter-in-laws, Steve & Anna Henley of Okla City, Tim & Debbie Henley of Stroud, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Dian and Paul Beloncik of Chandler, Jeanette & Arlie Strough of Longview 2 sisiters, Edith McFarland of Odessa, Opal Sill of Stroud, Eleven Grandchildren, Thirteen Great-Grandchildren, and One Great-Great-Grandchild. Services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014 in the First Baptist Church Stroud, Oklahoma at 2:00 p.m. Brother James Bond will officiate. Burial will follow at the Stroud Cemetery in Stroud, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Services of Stroud.
