Lee Meredith was born in Prague, Oklahoma on October 13, 1916 and departed this life in Stroud, Oklahoma on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the age of 97 years. Lee was the son of Earl E. and Lena Mary (Gertsen) Meredith. He was a resident of Stroud area all of his life. Lee proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army and was an active member of the Stroud American Legion Post 257. He earned his living as a carpenter but also served his community as a member of the Stroud Fire Department for over 20 years and as a member of the Stroud School Board. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Stroud. He married Josephine James on February 14, 1940 and she preceded him in death on June 15, 2002. He then married Lillie Weaver on May 21, 2007 and she prededed him in death on May 25, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Nancy Brown, one grandson, Brian Blaney, one brother, and three sisters, Survivors include, Daughter and son-in-law:Mary Linda & Lynn Pryor of Chugiak Alaska, Three Grandchildren:Kim Beasler, Leah Ackerman, and Sheila Williams, Nine Great Grandchildren, Three Great-Great Grandchildren, Other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Stroud, Oklahoma on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Joe Molencupp officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery, Stroud, Oklahoma under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.
