Rev. Lawrence O. Krueger departed this life on Friday, December 12, 2003, in Meeker. Lawrence, the oldest of twin sons, was born in Oklahoma City to Richard and Alice Docter Krueger on March 5, 1924. He graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served six months before receiving an honorable medical discharge. Lawrence then enrolled at Phillips University where he met and married Arleta McCord on December 23, 1945. He graduated with an A.B. from Phillips University in 1949 and was ordained into the ministry the same year. Rev. Krueger held full time pastorates at Tishomingo, Eufaula, Skiatook, and Broken Arrow. His part time pastorates include Cashion, Prague, Tecumseh, Holdenville, Indiana Ave. in Oklahoma City, Morris, West Point in Yukon and, of course, Meeker. He was recognized in 1999 for his 50 years in the ministry. Lawrence also worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 1985. During his life and retirement he enjoyed traveling, fishing, his family, and displaying the American flag. His wife of 56 years, his parents, two sisters, one brother, and a grandson preceded him in death. Lawrence is survived by his four children; Larry and wife Anita of Crane, Texas; Paul and wife Becky of Ponca City; Jan and husband James Harper of Meeker; and Donna Hicks of Del City. Also surviving him are 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his twin brother Clarence of Minnesota, and many other relatives and friends. His two sons and two grandsons have chosen to follow him into the ministry to God?s glory. Our thanks to our friends at the Meeker Nursing Center and the Meeker First Christian Church who gave Lawrence and his family such loving care. Memorials may be made in his honor at your home church. Services will be held Thursday, December 18, 2003, at the First Christian Church of Meeker at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Krueger, Rev. Paul Krueger, and Rev. Glen Walters, assisting. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
